The Wesley Medical Center opened in 2014 on the campus of the Seminario Wesleyano de Venezuela. It was the first Protestant Medical Center in the nation of 30 million people. This center was the vision of Dr. Maria Pirona, Pediatrician, Methodist Pastor and Seminary Graduate. She serves as its Medical Director, overseeing the practice of 7 doctors and two psychologists.
The Medical Center operates under the legal corporation, Una Esperanza (One Hope) Foundation in Barquisimeto, Venezuela. It exists to bring medical, family orientation, counseling and care to hundreds of needy families.
Venezuela is currently in the midst of an economic crisis which has led to vast shortages of medicines and medical supplies. Access to quality medical attention is too expensive for most families who have to survive on less than $40US a month. The Wesley Medical Center provides care to a struggling population. It especially focuses at-risk young women and children. The medical care is accompanied by pastoral and spiritual care.
You can touch lives. Provide care. Bring hope and real, tangible help. Your gifts help to continue and expand the ministry of the Wesley Medical Center in Venezuela.
