The first United Methodist Children’s Home in Venezuela began as a dream of a student in the Seminario Wesleyano de Venezuela. One day in class, Pastor Yolanda Caceido received a call from God to build a residential care facility for poor and homeless children. She began to share her vision and partners began to believe with her for this ministry.
The needs of children in Venezuela are great. Major difficulties experienced by children are often the result of teenage pregnancies, extreme poverty, inadequate housing, lack of accecessibility to medical care, hunger and malnutrician, childhood diseases, STD’s, unemployment, sex trade, destruction of traditional families and generational addictions. These problems have massive impact on the lives of the most vulnerable in Venezuela.
This breaks the heart of God and broke the heart of Pastor Yolanda. Yet she had no money. Through her faithful perseverance and ten years of construction as materials could be purchased, she built, then opened the Children’s Home. Over a year was invested in obtaining Governmental Licenses and approvals, but by the grace of God, the Home became the home of 6 children in 2014. After sufficient governmental approvals more children will be assigned to the home.
The Children’s Home has no denominational or governmental financial support. The children and staff are fully dependent on the benevolent gifts of compassionate people and churches. The biggest needs now are financial provision for food and staff salaries and medical care.
How you can help Financially:
Sponsor one child, $39 a month.
Provide the food for the Home, $200 a month.
Give the utilities cost, $50 a month.
Provide routine preventative medical care, $100 a month.
A major capital need is the construction of a security wall, $10,000.
